CEC power outage blamed on traffic incident

PERRYVILLE – A Citizens Electric Corporation spokesperson said a traffic incident at an indisclosed located caused approximately 1,300 members of the utility to lose power around 1:45 p.m. in the western portion of Ste. Genevieve County.

 

Crews discovered the source of the outage after they actively patroled areas in Ste. Genevieve County. The traffic incident was discovered about 2:07 p.m.

 

Power was restored to all members in the western portion of Ste. Genevieve County by 3 p.m.

 

The spokesperson said, “We appreciate your patience while our crews worked to restore your power. If you are still experiencing power issues, please report it by calling 877-876-3511.”

 

In the meantime, the spokesperson reminded CEC members and others never to touch, move, or drive over downed power lines.
