JEFFERSON CITY — A 62-year-old Valmeyer, Illinois man suffered moderate injuries in a traffic crash on I-270 in St. Louis County Thursday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Gary C. Schroeder was taken to Mercy Hospital South by the Mehlville Fire Protection District.
The patrol says the crash happened when an eastbound 2006 Hino 286 box truck driven by 35-year-old Michael P. Holman of St. Louis struck the rear of a 1014 Ford Explorer driven by Schroeder which had slowed for traffic congestion. After the impact the Explorer traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign.
The crash happened about 12:52 p.m. south of Route 21.
Both drivers were buckled up.
The Explorer was a total loss. The Hino had moderate damage.
