A funeral will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023 for 96-year-old Viola M. Mehrer of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 7:05 a.m. Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home, Chester, Ill.
She was born June 23, 1927 to the late Frank and Elda (nee Misselhorn) Draves in Chester, Ill.
Viola married Elmer E. Mehrer on March 28, 1946 in Chester, Illinois; he preceded her in death January 29, 2007.
She is survived by a son: Gene Mehrer of Chester, Ill.; a sister: Helen Clendenin of Chester, Ill.;
two grandchildren: Allen Mehrer and Addam Mehrer; two step grandchildren: Cathy Steffans and Cheryl Steffans; and four great grandchildren: Adrian Mehrer, Nathan Mehrer, Aaden Mehrer and Carsen Mehrer.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Janet Mehrer; a brother: Arvel Draves and a daughter-in-law: Barbara Mehrer.
She had worked as a lab technician at Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation.
Viola was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Chester.
She was also a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Chester and was an avid bingo player.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, Ill.
A funeral for 96-year-old Viola M. Mehrer of Chester, Ill. will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023,
at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, Ill. Minister Deb Rathert will officiate.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to Peace Lutheran Church in Chester.
