Joseph Stanley

Joseph Stanley, 29, left this life on June 19. He was born on April 13, 1994, in Jacksonville, Florida and attended school at St. Paul’s Catholic, Valle Catholic (Ste. Genevieve, MO), and Bishop Kenny High School.

 

Joe enlisted in the United States Air Force at 18 years of age. He was deployed to Erbil, Iraq, supporting wartime U.S. Special Forces and Personnel Recovery Units, and was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal, among others. He was medically retired from military service as a Senior Airman.

 

Joe enjoyed playing piano, especially La Campanella (Liszt), feeding the homeless at the Jacksonville Soup Kitchen, and preparing and personally delivering handmade care packets to the homeless in downtown Jacksonville. He loved caring for his dogs, Rudy and Zeal, and was generous to both those who knew him and strangers alike. Joe regularly prayed Vespers at night, the Our Father, the Magnificat, and the Act of Contrition.

 

Joe is survived by his parents, Dr. Thomas and Dr. Julia (Sexauer) Stanley, his siblings: Paul (Andrea), Christina (Matt) Blumenfeld, Ray (Caroline), Rita, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be at Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Geneveive, MO on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Friday July 14, 2023 from 8:00 am to 8:45 am.

 

There will be a rosary service held at 6:30 pm Thursday.

 

Service will be at the Church of Ste. Genevieve on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 9:00 am.

 

Burial will be at Valle Springs Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, MO.

 

The family invites everyone to join them at Sainte Genevieve Catholic Church on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 3 pm for the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

 

Memorials can be made to St. Joseph School or Parish, Valle Catholic Schools, the Church of Ste. Genevieve, or Military Veteran Charity of Choice.
