PERRYVILLE — Lightning is getting blame for a power outage in Ste. Genevieve Tuesday morning.
A Citizens Electric Corporation official said the outage began about 4 a.m.
“It appears lightning struck a pole approximately 4 a.m. on U.S. 61 near River View substation. The pole carried two circuits and caught fire about eight feet from the top causing the pole to burn in half entangling conductors on both circuits. This outage affected over 200 members. A Citizens Electric crew replaced the pole and repaired the conductors and restored power at approximately 9:30 a.m.”
