The Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council (MODDC) supports organizations that are inclusive of race and ethnicity

JEFFEFRSON CITY – In light of the recent decision from the US Supreme Court, we are reminded that:

Missouri public and private agencies and organizations should value and reflect the rich and diverse demographics of the state. This can be done by implementing policies and practices that are inclusive of disability, race, ethnicity, culture, age, religion, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.

To create a state of inclusivity, Missouri should develop and implement laws, policies, and practices that ensure equal rights to all, including full and equal access to goods and services.

Diversity is important because it helps us learn from one another, empowering us to build upon our strengths to address common challenges and create a more equitable, effective, and inclusive society.

Inclusion and full participation is a matter of social justice for everyone. MODDC works to remove barriers and inequities to create inclusive experiences for all groups.

MODDC collaborates with allies and partners, in a common struggle, to create change that empowers everyone.

The Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council (MODDC) is a federally-funded, 23-member, consumer-driven council appointed by the Governor. Its mandate under P.L. 106-402, the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, is to assure that individuals with developmental disabilities and their families participate in the design of and have access to needed community services, individualized supports, and other forms of assistance that promote self-determination, independence, productivity and integration in all aspects of community life.
