A funeral will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 for 75-year-old Michael Eugene “Mike” Brooks of Ste. Genevieve who passed away July 3, 2023.
He was born May 7, 1948 in St. Louis, Mo. to Alvin and Alpine (Dunlap) Brooks who both preceded him in death.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Valerie (Hahl) Brooks; a daughter: Tonya Hull and husband Rick; three grandchildren: Taylor Hahl, R.J. Warren, and Brooke (Steve) Minks; four great-grandchildren: Michael Akers, Lucy, Ruby and Gracie Minks; two brothers-in-law: Joe (Penny) Hahl and Jeff Hahl; fur babies: Smoky the cat and Dixie the Pitbull; and several nieces, nephews and other friends.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter: Leona Hahl; grandson: Michael Harp; brother: John Brooks; sister: Pat Starky; and brothers-in-law: Harry “Sonny” Hahl and John Hahl.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He worked for the State of Missouri Department of Corrections for 33 years.
He was a member of Genevieve Baptist Church and Farmington Elks Lodge 1765.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially loved raising his grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023 and 9-10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington.

Interment will follow at Knob Lick Cemetery.
