PERRYVILLE — Citizens Electric Corporation held its Annual Meeting on June 22, 2023.
Members were invited to attend the meeting in person at its headquarters in Perryville.
Approximately 33 members and guests participated in this year’s meeting, which included a recap highlighting accomplishments over the last year, the 2022 annual financial report, and the certification of the 2023 Director Election.
Voting in the Director Election was conducted via mail-in, in-person, and electronic balloting.
The cooperative introduced electronic balloting in 2020 to provide members with a fast, secure, and convenient way to submit ballots and avoid delays in mail handling.
Ste. Genevieve/St. Francois County District incumbent, Tom Keim will retain his seat with 12,113 votes.
Rodney Scherer received 12,258 votes winning his seat in the North District. Tim Heller received 873 votes, respectively.
In the Central District, Richard DeWilde retained his seat after receiving 12,412 votes in this year’s election.
Don Fulford received 12,452 votes also maintaining his seat.
Bill Odneal, Citizens Electric’s Board Chairman, and Jason Cates, CEO summarized the cooperative’s performance in 2022.
Last year, Citizens Electric 2022 saw several transmission infrastructure projects break ground while others were beginning to be planned and designed.
“We continue to collaborate on projects with our generation and transmission provider, Wabash Valley Power Alliance, working to bring enhancements, upgrades, and rebuilds to all areas of our service territory,” said Odneal. “The transmission system is the backbone of service reliability, and we are excited to bring these projects to our membership in the coming years.”
