A funeral will be held Saturday, July 1st, 2023 for 60-year-old John Paul Lutz, of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Friday, June 23, 2023 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born July 18, 1962 in Bonne Terre, Mo.
He married Cathy (Wadlow) Lutz on February 10, 2007
She is survived by: his wife, Cathy Lutz, of Ste. Genevieve, Mo; two sons: James Wadlow of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. and Jonathan (Felicia) Lutz of Farmington, Mo.; two daughters: Sarah Boyer of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., and Krista (Chase) Cissell of Perryville, Mo.; his mother: Pearl V. Lutz of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; five sisters: Virginia Wilding of O’Fallon, Mo., Dorothy (Timothy) Wolk of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Margie (Gary) Koller of Weingarten, Mo., Dolores (Wade) Schwent of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., and Della (Toby) Kemper of Bloomsdale, Mo.; grandchildren: Mariah, Kaelyn, Lydia, Ethan and Justin Boyer, Brendyn Lutz and Addisyn Cissell, Braxton and Olivia Lutz, Aneah Wadlow and Stella Tonna.
She was preceded in death by her father: Jerome “Buddy” J. Lutz; mother-in-law: Mary Wadlow; her brother in infancy: Joseph Lutz; her brothers-in-law: Leon Wilding and Dave Wadlow.
Visitation will be noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
John was a devoted husband to his wife Cathy for 39 years. The love for his children, their spouses and grandchildren did not go unnoticed throughout. He was a dear son to his mother, Pearl and belated father, Buddy. John had five sisters who adored him. Although he did not have any brothers, John had five brother-in-laws, and numerous friends who were just as close to him as brothers could ever be.
John was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 2030 for 25+ years. Within those years he gained many lifelong friendships and brotherships.
John brightened the day for anyone who crossed his path; not only with his humbleness, but with his goofy, jokester ways. He was the type of man who would drop everything just to help another and never expected anything in return.
John also had a love and knowledge for the outdoors. If he wasn’t helping a friend or spending time with his family, you could find him out in the woods either cutting trees or squirrel hunting, splitting wood, fishing or tinkering with something.
Those who have met John will forever be impacted by his selflessness and he will be greatly missed by all.

God saw that he was getting tired, a cure was not to be. So he put His arms around him and whispered,
“Come with me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer, and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes “the best”.
