Francis ‘Gene’ Eugene Thomure

A celebration of life will be held at a future date for 70-year-old Francis “Gene” Eugene Thomure of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at his home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

He was born September 10, 1952 in Perryville, Mo.

He married his high school sweetheart, Jeannine (Suda) Thomure on May 4, 1973 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Jefferson Barracks. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage

He is survived by his wife: Jeannine M. Thomure of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; a son: Daniel (Bethany) Thomure of Farmington, Mo.; a daughter: Jaclyn (Brett) Oechsner of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; two grandchildren: Lena and Luke Oechsner; a sister: Cara Lee (Ed) Cenatiempo; brothers-in-law: Ray (Kathy) Suda and Mike (Mary) Suda; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father: Daniel Thomure; mother: Virginia (Field) Thomure; and a goddaughter: Jenni Suda.

Gene graduated from Mehlville High School in 1970 and grew up spending every summer on his grandpa’s farm on the Saline Creek in Ste. Genevieve.

He loved helping his grandpa around the farm and most of all loved fishing in the creek ever since he could hold a fishing pole. Gene enjoyed going on any kind of fishing trip, but especially the yearly tradition of going to Bull Shoals Lake with his buddies, John and Steve.

Gene was a hard-working husband, father, and friend that always knew how to “fix it.” After 27 years dedicated to Boilermakers Local 27, he retired and spent much of his time back on the farm helping his own dad. Gene and Jeannine were able to call this very beloved farm their home for the last 10 years where they were able to watch their own grandkids play around in the creek and “help” on the farm. Gene was a man of few words, but what he said was honest and true.

Per Gene’s wishes, there will be a celebration of life to be determined at a later date.

Memorials can be made to The American Heart Association.
