Roger Lynn Etzold

A funeral will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 for 65-year-old Roger Lynn Etzold of Perryville, Mo. who passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 30, 1957 in Perryville, Mo. to Milton Melvin and Mary Ann Olivia (Lohmann) Etzold.

Roger and Janet Marie Kirn were married on November 21, 1981 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.

He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown and later became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.

Survivors include a son: Chad (Sierra) Etzold; a daughter: Bridget (Andrew) Bachmann; two brothers: Kevin (Donna) Etzold and Brian (Brenda) Etzold; sister: Sherry (James) Gibbar; five grandchildren: Blair, Hayes and Baylor Etzold, Milo and Adley Bachmann.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

In his younger days, Roger was on the diving team, enjoyed playing men’s fast-pitch softball and working on his Torino.

Roger was a meat processor, owner of Etzold Packing, and a member of the Missouri Association of Meat Processors.

 

He enjoyed playing guitar and singing old country music, cave exploring, ATV rides and walking the banks of the Mississippi.

 

He loved spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

 

He never missed a T-ball or soccer game.

 

Roger was friends with everyone and was known for generating a good time.

 

He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2023 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue Saturday, June 24, from 8-10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown, Mo.

A funeral for 65-year-old Roger Lynn Etzold of Perryville, Mo. will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown with Rev. Dr. Paul Winningham and Rev. Dr. Michael Bingenheimer officiating.

Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Longtown.

Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown, or family use for charities of their choice.
