A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023 for 80-year-old Loren Paul Harms of Red Bud, Illinois, who passed away at 10:20 am, Monday, June 12, 2023 at his residence.
He was born May 8, 1943 to the late Herbert Ernst and Leona (nee Rehmer) Harms in Red Bud, Illinois.
Loren married Nancy Hanebutt June 8, 1963 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Evansville, Illinois; she preceded him in death on September 11, 2015.
He is survived by two children: Cathy (Mark) Thompson of Red Bud, Ill. and Terry (Susie) Harms of Red Bud, Ill.; six grandchildren: Emily (Doug) Brennan, Katie Harms, Brendan Harms, Lily Thompson, Trevor Thompson (Sydney Martillaro), and Ethan Thompson (Tess Hatfield) and great grandchildren: Tillie, Penelope, Phenix, Luna and Wyatt; two brothers: Willis Harms of Baldwin, Ill. and Clifford (Carol) Harms of Red Bud, Ill.; six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Roger (Peggy) Hanebutt of Red Bud, Ill., Joan (Eric) Pittman of Troy, Michigan; Sue (Paul) Sieveking of Fenton, Mo.,
Rick (Kathy) Hanebutt of Shawnee, Kans.; Kay (Larry) Dunn of Smithton, Ill., and Randy (Pam) Hanebutt Chicago, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was also preceded in death by: his parents, wife, and a sister-in-law: Linda Hanebutt.
He worked for First State Bank of Red Bud for almost 40 years. After his retirement in 2001, he worked as a custodian at St. John’s Lutheran School for many years.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois and the men’s club at church.
He was also a member of Red Bud Lion’s Club, River Road Cruiser, Red Bud Museum and a past member of the Jaycee’s.
He served on the Red Bud Library Board and the District No. 132 Charitable Foundation.
He also played euchre every Wednesday night.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Pechacek Funeral Home, in Red Bud, Illinois
and 10–11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illinois.
A funeral for 80-year-old Loren Paul Harms of Red Bud will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois. Rev. Mark Nebel and Rev. Brian Nowak will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church or School.
