Franklin Bridge has been sold

STE. GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve County had only one bidder for the closed Franklin Bridge at St. Mary.

Presiding County Commissioner Randy Ruzicka says Bob and Carla Fischer bought the bridge for around $7,500.

They plan to install it at their Bloomsdale Family Fun Farm.

Meanwhile Ruzicka says the county will replace the Franklin bridge eventually. The bridge failed when its north abutment began shifting due to high water.

They have applied for two separate grants: one for the Franklin Bridge over the St. Laurent Creek and the other for the Main Street Bridge over the North Gabouri Creek.

Meanwhile replacement of the Fourth Street over the South Gabouri creek is still in the paperwork stage and may get started in 2025.
