Ste. Genevieve man hurt in motorcycle crash on I-55 in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON CITY — A motorcyclist from Ste. Genevieve was seriously injured Sunday afternoon, when a motorcycle collided with a passenger car on I-55.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 63-year-old Norman I. Obermiller received serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital South by a Joachim Plattin ambulance.

 

The patrol says Obermiller was operating a 2015 Harley Davidson south in I-55 when he tried to move into the adjacent lane. The motorcycle struck the side of a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu causing the Harley to overturn, ejecting Obermiller who was not wear safety equipment.

 

The patrol says the driver of the Malibu, 58-year-old Anna M. Mangin of Bloomsdale, was not hurt.

 

The patrol said the Harley had extensive damage, while the Malibu had moderate damage.

 

The crash happened at the 172.8 mile marker about 1:20 p.m. Sunday in Jefferson County.
