SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Following the General Assembly’s adjournment, the IL AFL-CIO released the following statement:
“Working Illinoisans celebrated numerous victories this legislative session, building on recent successes that have included the Workers’ Rights Amendment, Paid Leave for All, higher minimum wages, fairer workers compensation laws, and a robust state construction program.
The list of successes is long, and we tackled issues that impact all working families. We advocated for a fiscally sound and balanced budget that makes critical investments in future generations, while creating laws that will increase pay equity and transparency, to new prevailing wage provisions, and safety protections for essential workers across sectors.
We are eager to continue this work and are grateful for Governor J.B. Pritzker, Senate President Harmon, Speaker Chris Welch, and the entire General Assembly’s commitment to bettering the welfare of Illinoisans.”
