A funeral will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 for 52-year-old Wayne Leon Drake of Perryville, Mo.

who passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at his residence in Perryville, Mo. under hospice care.

 

He was born July 26, 1970 in Peoria, Ill.

 

He married Jan (Davis) Drake January 7, 2007.

 

Survived by his father: Alfred Eugene Drake; mother: Sharon Jean Rosen; wife: Jan Drake of Perryville, Mo.; four daughters: Dawn (Joe) Davis of Perryville, Mo., Misty (Jeremy) Boyet of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Becca (Billy) Schanda of Perryville, Mo., and Amy Gibbar of Perryville, Mo.; a son: Allen Gibbar of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; two brothers: Alfred (Jodi) Drake of Florida and Frank (Kristi) Drake of the state of Florida; three sisters: Charlotte Shoen of Florida, Cheryl (Kevin) Agne of the state of Missouri, and Karen (Ronnie) Hale of Mo.; five sisters-in-law: Sharon Grass, Linda (Donnie) Rottler, Debbie (Larry) Viox, Kathy (Keith) Trapp, and Nancy Davis; a brother-in-law: Jay (Charlotte) Davis; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by a son: Scott Gibbar, Jr.; father-in-law: George (Lillian) Davis; three brothers-in-law: Dave Grass, Sr., Ken Davis, and Allen Davis; a nephew: David Grass, Jr.; a niece, Rachelle Rehm; two stepdads: Louie Eddy and Frank Rosen; and his grandmother: Maragerite Lewis.

 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 1 and 9-10 a.m. Friday, June 2 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

 

A funeral for 52-year-old Wayne Leon Drake of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 2 at the Basler Funeral Home. The clergy will be Brother Brooks.

 

Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

 

He was a member of DAV in Florida.

 

Wayne was oftentimes called “Wino” by his dad and “Slop-dog #1” by others.

 

Wayne was a Yankees baseball fan and loved being with his grandkids.

 

He could talk on the phone for hours with his mother while enjoying his beer.

 

If he couldn’t pick on his kids, he wasn’t happy.
