STE. GENEVIEVE – Valle Catholic Schools has announced the appointment of Craig Gibbs as the principal of Valle Catholic High School.
Gibbs has just completed his 27th year in education, the last nine of which have been as an administrator in the Fredericktown R-1 District. At Fredericktown he has served as Assistant Principal/Athletic Director for four years and the last five as High School Principal.
Gibbs began his teaching career in 1996 in the Farmington R-VII School District before moving to the Arcadia Valley School District to teach mathematics. He returned to the Farmington School District where he served as a Special Education teacher. During his time at Farmington Gibbs coached baseball, golf, softball, wrestling, and basketball. He served in the Farmington School District for 13 years before moving to Fredericktown where he is currently serving.
In addition to his love for teaching and coaching, Gibbs has served on the MSHSAA Investigative Committee, Baseball Advisory Committee, and Golf Advisory Committee. Mr. Gibbs has played an important role in the growth of the VoTech program at Fredericktown, which co-ops with Mineral Area College.
Gibbs is married to his wife of 30 years, Carla, who will complete a 30-year career as an English teacher and school counselor with her retirement at the end of this year. Carla and Craig have two beautiful daughters, Sydney (25) and Lauren (19). In his free time, Gibbs is an avid hunter, golfer, and trout fisherman. He loves spending time at their river property with family and friends.
