Merlin R. Monier Sr., 81, of Perryville, Missouri passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO.
He was born March 15, 1942 in Perry County, MO to Elmer and Catherine (Richardet) Monier.
Merlin and Elizabeth Monier were married October 21, 1961 in Zell, MO.
He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church.
He worked in home construction as a carpenter.
He was a member of the Sportsman Club. He liked hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family, memories of watching the grandkids when they were little and playing cards with the grandkids.
Survivors include four sons, Merlin Monier, Jr. of Biehle, MO, David (Ruth) Monier of Perryville, MO, Brian (Yrma) Monier of Dallas, TX, Rodney (Teresa) Monier of Perryville, MO; three brothers, Dale (Nancy) Monier of Brewer, MO, Ray Monier of Perryville, MO, Roger Monier of Perryville, MO; three sisters, Virginia (Robert) Johnson of Perryville, MO, Helen Figge of Perryville, MO, Donna (Joseph) Weinrich of Perryville, MO; five grandchildren, Brooke, Tyler, Brett, Makayla, Blake; two step-grandchildren, Brenda, Amy; two great-grandchildren, Joanna Monier, Hadley Richardet; step great-grandchild, Elliott Standifer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leon Monier; grandson, Randy Monier; granddaughter, Desiree Monier; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Monier.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 12, 2023 and from 8:00 to 10:00 am on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with Deacon Direk Hunt officiating.
Burial will be at Home Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriner’s Children Hospital.
