Some other states require supermajorities for citizens initiatives

JEFFERSON CITY – With the Missouri legislature considering making it more difficult for citizens to change the state constitution by initiative petition, it might be interesting to see what other states are doing.

The Ohio Senate has passed a measure requiring 60 percent vote to approve constitutional amendments. The threshold had been a simple majority.

Illinois and Florida require a 60 percent supermajority to approve constitutional amendments.
