PERRYVILLE — Sales tax receipts for the city of Perryville were down a bit in March, compared with March of last year, but the year to date total is still greater than for the first three months of 2022.
The Missouri Department of Revenue transferred the funds generated by Perryville’s sales taxes into its accounts at the Bank of Missouri April 6th.
The report shows the city’s one percent sales tax raised $150,475.16, in March of this year, which is down $24,487.04 from the same month last year.
So far this year, the tax has brought in $522,786.23 which is an increase of $22,567.83 over the first three months of 2022.
The city’s two other sales taxes: public mass transportation and capital improvements tax each showed similar results with March figures down and the year to date showing an increase.
The city’s consolidated city use tax also was down in March and up so far this year.
The taxes are based on retail sales in the city and rise and fall according to the amount of sales and resulting sales taxes reported by local businesses.
