Alfred J. “AJ” Guebert

A funeral will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 for 80-year-old Alfred J. “AJ” Guebert of Red Bud, Illinois, who passed away at 7:38 p.m., Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

 

He was born December 30, 1942 in Sparta, Ill. a son of Alfred E. and Elda (nee Burmester) Guebert who both preceded him in death.

 

AJ married Sue A. Sedlacek on March 25, 1983 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois; she survives in Red Bud.

 

He is also survived by three children: Marcia L. Guebert Camdenton, MO; Mikayla M. Wilson (Shane Sonsoucie and his son – Braden) Red Bud and Craig M. Wilson (Lindsay Phillips) Red Bud, IL; a sister: Carol E. (Robert) Stoll Red Bud, IL; three nephews: Allen Stoll (Naomi Conner), Bruce (Judy) Stoll and Curtis (Kristine) Stoll and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

 

He was also preceded in death by a son: Michael Scott Guebert.

 

He had been a grain and hog farmer for 57 years and Dekalb Seed Dealer.

 

He had worked at Spartan Aluminum, Sparta, Illinois and was a rural mail carrier.

 

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois and Randolph County Farm Bureau.

 

He had also been an Elder and Trustee at church and served on the school board at Trinity Lutheran School in Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois.

 

AJ enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles, playing Farkel Dice game with Sue during lunch, playing Euchre and laptime with his grandkitties. He loved watching TV shows like – Hogan’s Heroes, Home Improvement, Garfield, M.A.S.H., all of the James Bond movies and going to Pink Floyd concerts.

 

AJ spent many hours working on cars and motors.

 

AJ and Sue also traveled a lot and enjoyed exploring many new places.

 

AJ was also very creative and could create equipment from the tiniest bit of metal and build beautiful furniture for his house. 

 

AJ also raised bassets hounds.

 

He served in the Army Reserves and was in the service when President Kennedy was shot.

 

Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois.

Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois
