Rep. Christofanelli files resolution condemning indictment of former President Trump

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Following the indictment of Donald Trump, State Representative Phil Christofanelli filed a House Resolution condemning the political prosecution of the former President. HR 1816 denounces the prosecution of Donald Trump as a partisan effort to damage his future political efforts and warns that the political prosecution of a former President will set a dangerous precedent.

“The blatant political prosecution of former President Donald J. Trump needlessly politicizes our system of criminal justice and only serves to further divide our country,” said Rep. Phil Christofanelli (R-St. Peters). “The actions of the Manhattan District Attorney against former President Trump are clearly driven by partisan animus and will only serve to undermine the confidence of the public in our system of government.”

The measure has been co-sponsored by twenty members of the Missouri House.  Upon approval by the House, the resolution will be delivered to the Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, who is leading the prosecution against Donald Trump.

Rep. Phil Christofanelli is a Republican who represents parts of the city of Saint Peters and Saint Charles County in the Missouri House of Representatives.
