‘Pay What You Wish’ family programming at The Hands-on History House in Ste. Genevieve will recommence Saturday

STE. GENEVIEVE — Starting Saturday, April 1, 2023, the Hands-on History House, a part of the museum campus of the Centre for French Colonial Life in historic downtown Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, will begin a new season of “Pay What You Wish” interactive educational programming for families and learners of all ages.

The popular program will now be offered on both Friday afternoons and on Saturdays.

There is no set fee for admission to the facility at 116 South Main Street, right across the street from the National Historic Landmark Bolduc House.  Guests who can afford to donate are welcome to do so.

Activity options include, playing in the “trading post” and experiencing aspects of everyday life in the late 1700s and early 1800s.

While most of the activities are free, certain components, such as tomahawk throwing (a favorite entertainment for French voyageurs, hunters, and farmers in the colonial era) and parties featuring colonial style chocolate, do require modest fees to help cover costs (cash only), but there is plenty to do and see, including living history presentations and exploring under the 200-year-old boxwoods.

The season for Friday and Saturday “Pay What You Wish” programming at the Hands-on House will continue through the end of October.

Hours may vary, so the staff encourages potential guests to call first at 573-880-4123 or check the Facebook page at facebook.com/HOHLindenHouse for up-to-date information.
