Two persons were hurt in four-vehicle crash on Highway 61 Wednesday afternoon

JEFFERSON CITY — Two Ste. Genevieve residents suffered moderate injuries in four-vehicle traffic crash on Highway 61 in Ste. Genevieve County Wednesday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 63-year-old Anthony G. Grass and 62-year-old Mary J. Grass were taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by Ste. Genevieve County EMS.

 

The patrol says they were occupants of a 2022 Toyota Highlander driven by Anthony Grass which was struck in the rear by a 2020 Subaru Outback driven by 32-year-old Aswin R. Kansakar of St. Louis. The impact caused the Highlander to strike a 2011 Ford Escape driven by 19-year-old Morgan G. Messer of Festus which then struck a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 18-year-old Hannah Bley of Bloomsdale.

 

The patrol says the Highlander, Escape and Malibu were stopped for traffic in the northbound lane of Highway 61.

 

After the impact, the Highlander traveled off the right side of the roadway and traveled down an embankment.

 

The crash happened at 4:30 p.m. south of Village Drive.

 

The Outback was a total loss, the Highlander had moderate damage, the Escape had moderate damage and the Malibu had minor damage. The Escape and Malibu were driven from the scene. The Outback and Highlander were removed by Ste. Genevieve County Towing.

 

The patrol says all persons were buckled up.
