Paul Robert Sexauer

Paul Robert Sexauer passed away peacefully on the night of March 3, 2023.

Paul, known to some as Paw-Paw, to others as Pauly, and to his Kay Kay as PaPa, is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Geralyn Sexauer (Jokerst).

Geri has been by his side through thick and thin, all the way up to the time when the good lord called him home.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Elaine Sexauer, by his brother, Carl R. Sexauer, and his brother-in-law Eugene “Beans” Jokerst. Paul’s memory lives on through the many lives he has touched, including Geri, as well as through his brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Judy (Melendez) Sexauer of Cape Girardeau and his sisters Nancy Sexauer and Maryellen Jokerst (Sexauer) of Ste. Genevieve as well as through countless nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.

Paul was an educator and loved teaching. He was a guidance counselor, giving sound advice to the next generation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. A champion turkey caller, having made his own mouth calls. He combined his love of teaching and of the outdoors, passing on hard-earned knowledge to his sibling, nieces and nephews, especially his sister Mary’s children Clint, Matt, and Katie and Clint’s girls, Lily and Rosie.

His love of nature was surpassed only by his love of and faithfulness to his family. Paul placed primary importance on being there to support his family, on conserving nature, on enjoying the simple things, on justice, and on educating us all about the meaning of a good life.
