Sign up now for SIU’s Little Grassy Songwriter Retreat March 10-12

CARBONDALE, Ill. — If you are a songwriter or interested in becoming one, you won’t want to miss the inaugural Little Grassy Winter Songwriter Retreat, set for March 10-12 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s scenic Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center.

Poss Music Works, an Effingham nonprofit organization, and Touch of Nature are joining to offer a weekend filled with musical workshops, networking opportunities, concerts and chances to create and record your music in a recording studio. Observers are welcome, too.

Performances, activities and more

The weekend will include workshops, regular and “newbie” song circles, a content creation station, feedback sessions, yoga, breathwork, hikes, 12-step, a ladies’ lounge and more. Participants can enjoy performances, including Jonathan Byrd, Trout Fishing in America and Beth Bombara.

A variety of SIU faculty members are involved, including Dana Anderson, Beth Bombara, Jonathan Byrd, Matt Fockler, Wil Maring, Bill Nash, Bill Poss and Nichole Wright.

Retreat passes for the entire weekend are $125 plus a $5 processing fee; passes include all meals and activities, with lodging available separately. In addition, day passes are also available with prices ranging from $30 to $50 (plus $5 processing fee), and anyone is welcome at attend.
