Baldwin village clerk arrested on theft charge

CHESTER – Randolph County Sheriff Jarrod Peters has announced the arrest of 46-year-old Tracie E. Behiter of Coulterville, Illinois.

Behiter, who serves as the Village Clerk for the Village of Baldwin, is alleged to have unlawfully stolen Village of Baldwin funds for personal use.

 

Behiter is suspected of stealing a cumulative amount in excess of $60,000.00 of Village of Baldwin funds from May of 2022 to February of 2023, funds obtained from a Village of Baldwin credit card.

 

Behiter was arrested on February 13th, 2023 and charged with Theft – In excess of $10,000 but not exceeding $100,000 from a Government Entity, a class 1 Felony.

 

On February 14, 2023 Behiter’s bond was set at $30,000 (10% cash). Behiter posted bond later that day.

 

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
