Merlin Raymond Brickhaus, 80, of Perryville, Missouri passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
He was born October 13, 1942 in Millheim, MO to Herman and Iona (Hoffman) Brickhaus.
Merlin and Velma Gibbar were married January 31, 1970 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
He served four years in the United States Air Force.
Merlin retired from Chrysler after 38 years where he worked as an assembler. After retiring he worked at Rozier’s Grocery for 10 years.
He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, and the American Legion #133.
Survivors include two sons, Scott (Karen) Brickhaus of St. Mary, MO, Rodney Brickhaus of Perryville, MO; daughter, Christy (Bruce) Slack of Portageville, MO; three brothers, Richard Brickhaus of Kempner, TX, Wayne Brickhaus of Perryville, MO, Larry Brickhaus of Perryville, MO; sister, Sue (Dallas) Clifton of Perryville, MO; grandchild, Caleb Slack of Portageville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sheila Brickhaus; one sister, Doris Brickhaus.
Visitation will be from 8:00 am to 9:15 am on Saturday, February 18, 2023 with the Rosary being recited at 9:15 am at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Perryville with Fr. Joe Geders C.M. Officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
