Ste. Genevieve County Library adds resource for the community

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. – Ste. Genevieve County Library is excited to announce a new addition to its resources for the community and our residents.

With a generous donation, Ste. Genevieve County Library has purchased a Charlie Cart for both Library activities and community organization use. Charlie Cart is a kitchen all-in-one program focused on creating a comprehensive food education program, giving kids the power to make healthy choices for life.

“As a staff we discovered that some of our most popular programs involved food,” stated Shawn Long Library Director. “We wanted to do more food programs, but the problem we had is that our location doesn’t have the proper space to accommodate the equipment we needed.”

Not only will the Charlie Cart allow the library to provide a lot of fun food based programs but the Library also wants to allow other organizations to utilize this for their own individual programs.  “We have reached out to several organizations including 4-H, the hospital, and a few others, and they are very interested in utilizing this resource for their needs.” Shawn stated.

One of the first library programs they will be hosting is a Green Eggs and Ham program on March 10th to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday. “Our staff is going to teach attendees how to make a spinach quiche and we will die the yolks of eggs green.” Shawn said “This is going to be an all ages program and will be broken up into 2 times, 1:00-2:30 and 3:30-5:00. Since school is closed that day we hope it will allow our staff to ease into cooking programs and get a feel for how we can run them.”

For an updated list of upcoming programs and events hosted at the library check the library’s Facebook page for the most up to date information.
