SGPD announces retirement of K-9 Mario

STE GENEVIEVE —To our loyal and fearless K9 Mario, we would like to wish you our best in your new stage of life, retirement.

 

 

K9 Mario was a great partner and friend to Officer Cusanelli.

 

We would like to thank K9 Mario for your five years of service, sacrifice and dedication to our department and the citizens of Ste. Genevieve.

 

He worked hard as a certified narcotics detection, tracking and apprehension dog earning this well-deserved rest.

 

His official retirement day was January 12, 2023.

 

K9 Mario will spend his retirement with a local law enforcement family where he will have children to play with as they grow, and plenty of room to run.

 

Here are the highlights of Mario’s five-year career with the Ste. Genevieve Police Department.

 

11 Compliant surrenders

2 non-complaint surrenders (Apprehension)/One of which was a suspect in multiple armed robberies

1 successful location of a five-year-old child with autism

72 public relations contacts (K9 demonstrations and foot patrols at schools)

66 generated arrests from K9 deployments

And the following contraband was seized because of K9 Mario:

6 pounds of Marijuana

26.2 grams of Methamphetamine

12 grams of Heroin

1.1 gram of Fentanyl

1.1 pounds of Cocaine

1 gram of Mushrooms

56 items of paraphernalia

1 handgun

$8,000 worth of United States Currency
