STE. GENEVIEVE — The individual who is apparently the top candidate for the job of Ste. Genevieve Tourism Marketing Director wants to work remotely, at home in Hillsboro, and not have to come to Ste. Genevieve on a daily basis.
The request was disclosed in a memo from City Administrator Happy Welch which was included in the agenda packet sent to aldermen and the media in preparation for Thursday’s meeting of the Board of Aldermen.
In his memo, City Administrator Happy Welch says much of the marketing management part of the job can be done remotely, using the city’s in house software and other software, plus the website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are all remotely accessed.
He said a laptop and phone will be provided, equipment the city procured for the previous tourism director and it will be managed by Forward Slash Technologies.
Welch said he will be the tourism marketing director’s direct supervisor. He said he and the candidate have discussed how much time she will need to spend in city hall. He said she does want to be in Ste. Genevieve for evening meetings with the board and tourism groups.
Welch said he has already allowed another employee to work remotely on occasion and he has not seen or heard any negative issues.
It is expected the board of aldermen will weigh in on the issue at Thursday’s Board of Aldermen meeting.
