Traffic on I-55 in Ste. Genevieve County will be reduced to 20 mph overnight Tuesday, Jan. 10 to Wednesday, Jan. 11 for utility work

SIKESTON―Motorists are encouraged to watch for slow-moving traffic on northbound and southbound Interstate 55 in Ste. Genevieve County overnight on Tuesday, Jan. 10 through Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol will begin to slow northbound I-55 traffic at mile marker 147 and southbound I-55 traffic at mile marker 161.

 

During this time, I-55 traffic will be reduced to 20 mph for approximately 30 minutes as contractor crews replace overhead fiber optic cables at mile marker 154.2. Drivers should be prepared to stop. Motorists utilizing an interchange ramp will be required to stop before entering I-55 until the pace car passes.

 

Drivers should plan for short-term delays, pay attention to work zone signage and watch for slow moving traffic. Message boards will be in place. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
