Hospital damaged by broken water pipe

PERRYVILLE — A water pipe break during the bitter cold over the Christmas Holiday has damaged a portion of Perry County Health System facilities in Perryville.

PCHS CEO Chris Wibbenmeyer has issued the following statement regarding the damage caused by the break.

“During the bitter cold over the Christmas holiday, Perry County Health System (PCHS) suffered an unfortunate water pipe break that damaged a portion of our hospital and medical office

building.

“As a result, our surgery department will be out of service until the area can be repaired, restored, and meticulously cleaned. All patients scheduled for surgery will be notified directly by PCHS. The water damage does not impact our emergency department or other lines of service.

“Damage to the medical office building in the gastroenterology clinic (Dr. Gaeta) and one primary care office (Dr. Reinagel) requires us to transition care out of the damaged spaces and into other areas. Again, patients will hear from us directly in advance of their visit and appropriate signage will be posted when entering the facility.

“We appreciate the support and understanding of our community, and we will continue to provide updates as we make progress on the restoration.”
