Ste. Gen County is still in the red or high level for COVID-19

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reports 6,209 new cases of COVID-19 in Missouri as of Tuesday. That’s 1,128 fewer than the previous week’s total of 7,237 or a 16 percent decline in new cases from the previous week’s new cases of COVID 19.

Locally:

There were 26 new cases of COVID-19 in Ste. Genevieve County compared to 19 the previous week. That is 145 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 22 new cases in Perry County compared to 20 the previous week. That is 114 per 100,000 population.

Bollinger County had fewer than 10 new cases, compared to fewer than 10 the previous week. That is 41 per 100,000 population.

St. Francois County had 59 new cases, compared to 88 the previous week. That’s 89 per 100,000 population.

Cape Girardeau had 58 new cases compared to 68 the previous week. That’s 73 per 100,000 population.

Jefferson County had 312 new cases compared with 306 new cases the previous week. That’s 138 per 100,000 population.

Ste. Genevieve, St. Francois and Jefferson Counties are among those in the red or high community level.

The CDC recommends the following measures for people in areas, such as Ste. Genevieve County, that are rated at High Community Level for COVID-19 transmission:

Wear a well-fitting mask indoors in public, regardless of vaccination status (including in K-12 schools and other indoor community settings)

If you are immunocompromised or high risk for severe disease

Wear a mask or respirator that provides you with greater protection

Consider avoiding non-essential indoor activities in public where you could be exposed

Talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to take other precautions
