Slight increase in new COVID-19 cases in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reports 7,237 new cases of COVID-19 in Missouri as of Tuesday. That’s 93 more, or a 1.3 percent increase from the previous week’s 7,144 new cases of COVID 19.

Locally:

There were 19 new cases of COVID-19 in Ste. Genevieve County compared to 11 the previous week. That is 106 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 20 new cases in Perry County compared to 19 the previous week. That is 104 per 100,000 population.

Bollinger County had fewer than 10 new cases, compared to fewer than 10 the previous week. That is 41 per 100,000 population.

St. Francois County had 83 new cases, compared to 98 the previous week. That’s 125 per 100,000 population.

Cape Girardeau had 68 new cases compared to 72 the previous week. That’s 86 per 100,000 population.

Jefferson County had 306 new cases compared with 319 new cases the previous week. That’s 135 per 100,000 population.

Ste. Genevieve, St. Francois and Jefferson Counties are in the yellow or medium community level.

In counties at the Medium Community Level, the CDC says persons who are elderly or immunocompromised (at risk of severe outcomes) are advised to wear a mask in indoor public places. They should also get up to date on COVID-19 vaccines or get their bivalent booster, if eligible.

Perry, Bollinger and Cape Girardeau Counties are at the green or low community level.
