A funeral will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 for 81-year-old Margo Asselmeier of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 6:30 pm, Monday, December 12, 2022 at Independence Care Center, Perryville, Missouri.
She was born December 23, 1940 in Prairie du Rocher to Emil and Marguerite (nee Allard) Siegfried who both preceded her in death.
Margo married Herman Asselmeier on March 2, 1957 in New Baden, Illinois; he preceded her in death on November 13, 2004.
She is survived by a son: Larry (Sheri) Asselemeier of Chester, Ill.; a daughter: Lynn (Rick) Powley of Chester, Ill.; two sisters: Kay (Jack) Bivens of Sparta, Ill. and Janet (John) Schroeder of Jones Ridge, Ill.; three grandchildren: Kaela Powley, Benjamin Asselmeier and Bradley Asselmeier (Fiancee Katherine); two sisters-in-law: Vera Siegfried of Chester, Ill. and Betty Hammel of Chester, Ill.
She was also preceded in death by a brother: Larry Siegfried; two sisters: Maxine Martin and Carol Fortner and two brothers-in-law: George Martin and Jerry Fortner.
She had worked as a hairdresser at the Pampered Lady for over 20 years.
Margo was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois.
She was also a member of the ladies altar sodality at church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Chester.
Margo loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Illinois.
A funeral for 81-year-old Margo Asselmeier of Chester, Illinois, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Illinois. Danny Miller will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Chester, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School or to St. John Lutheran School.
