JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Lebanon Sunbonnet Federated Garden Club and Bennett Spring State Park announced the winners of the annual Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl poster contest. Children first through fifth grades competed in the contest.
Every contestant received a certificate for entering, with the top five pieces of art chosen to move on in the competition to the state level. If selected, the winner will be in the running for one of four national winners. The national grand prizewinner receives a trip to Washington, D.C.
The following contestants are moving forward:
1st grade – Emily Patterson of Eureka.
2nd grade – Aidan Starr of Richland.
3rd grade – Maddox Carroll of Richland.
4th grade – Ava Brown of Richland.
5th grade – Seraphina Gracia of Richland.
These winners received a cash prize from the Sunbonnet Garden Club.
Smokey Bear promotes prevention of wildfires, while Woodsy Owl is a conservation icon whose message is “Lend a hand, care for the land!” The park supports the community’s efforts in recycling, reusing and reducing waste. Using resources wisely and not littering is appreciated at the park.
