A funeral will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 for 79-year-old Barbara A. Niermann of Red Bud, Illinois, who passed away at 6 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri with her husband at her side.
She was born March 14, 1943 in St. Louis to Walter and Dolores (nee Rheinecker) Spreitler who both preceded her in death.
Her family moved to Red Bud when she was a child and Walter opened Spreitler Auto Body.
Barb married her best friend and love of her life, Ken Niermann, on June 1, 1963 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud. He survives in Red Bud. During their more than 59 years of marriage, they were blessed with two daughters and three grandchildren. She was a dedicated loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Barb and Ken started and ran Niermann Oil Company for 45 years and Niermann Rental for 55 years.
She was active in the family businesses.
Barb was also very involved at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and School in Red Bud, first as a teacher and then as a volunteer. Along with being extremely dedicated to her family, she also enjoyed spending time with many long-time friends in Red Bud and Florida. She was a wonderful cook and often shared her giving nature through food and other many other acts of kindness. Her dedication to faith, family and friends will always be treasured by many.
She was blessed with good health until a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis two years ago. Although she struggled with her health over the last two years, she cherished the time she had with family and friends.
She is also survived by two daughters: Rebecca (Troy) Throneburg of Assumption, Ill. and Lynn Niermann of Red Bud; a sister: Bernell Wiegard of Red Bud; a brother-in-law: Bob (Elizabeth) Niermann of Shiloh, Ill.; three grandchildren: Jacob (Jennifer) Throneburg, Sarah (Nicholas) Wollerman and Rachel Throneburg and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud.
A funeral mass for 79-year-old Barbara A. Niermann of Red Bud will be held at noon Saturday, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud. Msgr. Dennis Schaefer will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Red Bud.
Memorials may be made to the St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Red Bud, Illinois.
