Ste. Gen may get closer to having a new tourism director Tuesday

STE. GENEVIEVE — The tentative agenda for the Tuesday, Dec. 6 meeting of the Ste. Genevieve Tourism Advisory Council and Tourism Tax Commission has been released along with the minutes of the November 15 meeting.

 

The agenda includes interviews with candidates for the tourism director position.

 

It was reported in the minutes of the previous meeting held November 15 that five candidates were screened at the previous meeting held November 15.

Old Business

 

Tourism update – Happy Welch explained the Christmas Festival will be December 3rd and 4th with the parade starting at 11:00 a.m. The board then reviewed the new rack cards and results of marketing from Audacy. The board also reviewed the ad from the Columbia Missourian. Happy Welch explained that our Facebook is up 102% and Instagram is up 24%. Our website is averaging 200 visitors a day with Things to Do and Lodging being the most viewed pages. The Gravel Road Race is being scheduled in April for either the 3rd or 4th weekend. Happy Welch explained that we are not currently in Preservation Magazine. They have offered us a discount to come back with 4 ads for $2,000. They have 65,000 travel enewsletter readers and their Featured e-news goes out to 280,000 addresses.

 

New Business:

 

Tourism Marketing Director Resumes – The Task Force has screened 5 candidates and is scheduling video interviews for November 28th & 29th. There was much discussion about the process going forward. It was decided to have the Task Force select two or three finalists for an interview to be done in front of the entire combined boards in a closed meeting as allowed under RSMo. §610.021 (3) Hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of particular employees by a public governmental body when personal information about the employee is discussed or recorded. This meeting is scheduled for December 6th starting at 5:30 p.m.
