Randolph County COVID level rises from low to medium

SPRINGFIELD — The latest Illinois map of Community Levels shows Randolph County, which had been at a low for several weeks, has now risen to a medium level.

When making decisions about community prevention strategies and individual preventive behaviors in addition to vaccination, health officials and people should consider the COVID-19 Community Level in the county.

Layered prevention strategies — like staying up to date on vaccines, screening testing, ventilation and wearing masks — can help limit severe disease and reduce the potential for strain on the healthcare system.

CDC recommends using county COVID-19 Community Levels to help determine which COVID-19 prevention measures to use for individuals and communities.

Using these data, the COVID-19 Community Level is classified as low, medium, or high.

In the latest map of community levels, it can be seen that Randolph County has gone from low to medium.

In counties at the Medium Community Level, persons who are elderly or immuno-compromised (at risk of severe outcomes) are advised to wear a mask in indoor public places or avoid indoor public meetings. They should also get up to date on COVID-19 vaccines or get their bivalent booster, if eligible.
