Mo COVID-19 numbers show 17 percent increase

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reports 5,165 new cases of COVID-19 in Missouri as of Tuesday. That’s 742 more, or a 17 percent increase from the previous week’s 4,423 new cases of COVID 19.

Locally:

There were fewer than 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Ste. Genevieve County compared to fewer than 10 the previous week. That is 33.5 cases per 100,000 population.

There were fewer than 15 new cases in Perry County compared to fewer than 10 the previous week. That is 78.1 per 100,000 population.

Bollinger County had fewer than 10 new cases, compared to fewer than 10 the previous week. That is 24.8 per 100,000 population.

St. Francois County had 49 new cases. compared to 65 last week. That’s 98 per 100,000 population.

Cape Girardeau had 46 new cases compared to 54 the previous week. That’s 80.5 per 100,000 population.

Jefferson County had 223 new cases compared with 182 new cases the previous week. That’s 98.4 per 100,000 population.

Locally Ste. Genevieve, St. Francois and Jefferson Counties were in the medium community level. In counties at the Medium Community Level, persons who are elderly or immuno-compromised (at risk of severe outcomes) are advised to wear a mask in indoor public places or avoid indoor public meetings. They should also get up to date on COVID-19 vaccines or get their bivalent booster, if eligible.

Perry, Bollinger and Cape Girardeau Counties are at the low community level.
