COVID-19 cases fall five percent in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reports 4,333 new cases of COVID-19 in Missouri as of Sunday. That’s 224 fewer, or a five percent drop from the previous week’s 4,557 new cases of COVID 19.

 

Locally:

 

There were fewer than 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Ste. Genevieve County compared to 14 the previous week. That is 45 cases per 100,000 population.

 

There were 22 new cases in Perry County compared to 23 the previous week. That is 115 per 100,000 population.

 

Bollinger County had fewer than 10 new cases, compared to 10 the previous week. That is 24.8 per 100,000 population.

 

St. Francois County had 56  new cases. That’s 84 per 100,000 population.

 

Cape Girardeau had 56 new cases compared to 68 the previous week. That’s 70 per 100,000 population.

 

Jefferson County had 178 new cases compared with 207 new cases the previous week. That’s 79 per 100,000 population.

Locally Ste. Genevieve, Perry, St. Francois and Jefferson Counties were in the medium community level. In counties at the Medium Community Level, persons who are elderly or immuno-compromised (at risk of severe outcomes) are advised to wear a mask in indoor public places or avoid indoor public meetings. They should also get up to date on COVID-19 vaccines or get their bivalent booster, if eligible.

 

Bollinger and Cape Girardeau Counties are at the low community level.
