Ashcroft applauds officials, poll workers, voters for successful general election

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. —  With all Missouri precincts reporting, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft thanked local election authorities, poll workers and voters for another successful general election.

This was the first statewide election implementing the new election integrity measures called for in HB 1878.  Changes to Missouri’s voting laws included two weeks of no-excuse in-person absentee voting and required voters to show a valid photo ID or cast a provisional ballot.  According to LEAs (Local Election Authorities), it was a successful Election Day.

“First, I want to thank our election authorities and the thousands of poll workers across the state who worked long hours yesterday,” said Ashcroft. “As well, I want to thank the people of Missouri who made their voices heard. Missouri can’t have safe, accurate and accessible elections without voters.”

Unofficial election results of the 2022 general election can be viewed at enr.sos.mo.gov. For results to become official, Missouri election law [RSMo 115.507 and 115.511] requires the local election authorities to transmit the certified election results to the secretary of state’s office no later than the second Tuesday after the election (November 22, 2022).  The secretary of state’s office must convene the board of canvassers and issue a statement announcing the official results no later than the second Tuesday in December (December 13, 2022).

Unofficial totals show a turnout with just over two million registered voters casting a vote.
