PERRYVILLE – Fewer than half of Perry County voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s general elections.
They gave their support to Republicans running for office: Eric Schmitt for U.S. Senate, Scott Fitzpatrick for state auditor, Jason Smith for Eighth District Congress.
All of the local candidates were unopposed.
Perry County voters said no to Amendment 1, no to Amendment 3, yes to Amendment 4, and yes to Amendment 5.
They rejected a call for a constitutional convention by more than a two to one margin.
Attached are the unofficial results from the Perry County General Election.
“Turnout was, as expected, lower than 2018 where we had nearly 1,000 more voters go to the polls then the just over 6,400 voters who turned out (Tuesday),” County Clerk Jared Kutz commented in an email to the news media last night.
“Perry County has only 19 provisional ballots out to still be determined if they will be added to the overall election results which is far fewer than expected with Missouri’s voter ID law in effect. Throughout Perry County our voters overall came to the polls prepared with photo ID’s and our election judges did a wonderful job ensuring every properly registered voter in Perry County received a ballot to cast,” Kutz continued.
“Thank you to our operations team, our election judges and our returns team for the work they do to ensure Perry County’s elections process is one that allows our citizens to efficiently participate in elections on issues and to choose representatives from the Courthouse to the Halls of Congress. It is because of their dedication and commitment to civic duty Perry County elections are safe, secure and accurate,” Kutz concluded.
