SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois National Guard is working to help maintain cybersecurity during Tuesday’s elections.
Major General Richard Neely says the guard is on hand to assist election and emergency management officials keep the integrity of the mid-term elections intact. It’s an issue that became quite apparent in 2016 when Russians hackers got into the state’s election database.
Gen. Neely says they are always looking for more cyber experts to join the guard.
Meanwhile National Guard officials across the country say they are not tackling any specific threats, but are hoping to preserve the integrity of the mid-term elections.
