Salukis place fifth at 2022 MVC X-Country Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – On Friday, the Saluki Cross Country teams competed at the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Championships. Both the men’s and women’s teams placed fifth in their respective meets. 


 
The women’s team ran a challenging 6k and earned 139 points. Junior Rachel Anderson placed highest for the women’s team and came in sixth overall (21:32.0). Anderson also was awarded to the Women’s All-Conference First Team, with an impressive season performance. Leah Metzger (22:47.9), Stephanie Anthonies (22:53.4) and Tabitha Bevan (22:56.1) placed in 33rd, 34th, and 35th. Sophomore Brianna Nieset finished with a season-best time of 23:02.4. 
 
The men’s team ran an 8,000 M race and had three Top-25 finishers. They earned 130 points. Sophomores Ethan Senti (24:40.9) and Dawson Smith (24:44.5) have had strong seasons and placed 5th and 6th. Both Senti and Smith were awarded to the Men’s All-Conference First Team. Senti also received the Men’s Elite 17 award. Freshman Weston Jokerst placed 25thwith a time of 25:11.7.
