SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– This October 31 Girl Scouts all over will be celebrating the birthday of our founder Juliette Gordon Low. Juliette paved the way for every Girl Scout by living a life of courage, confidence, and character. Girls will celebrate by hosting birthday parties in honor of her, host team meetings, and of course earn patches while learning new skills!
Juliette Gordon Low (1860–1927), also affectionately known by her nickname “Daisy,” founded Girl Scouts of the USA in 1912. Her nickname, Daisy, was the inspiration of the first age group of Girl Scouts to be called Daisies (age range 5-7). Daisy saw Girl Scouts as a foundation for all girls to join together and discover their greatest hopes and dreams while embracing what they bring to the table. That is exactly what she has did, she truly made her dream a reality.
Daisy strongly believed that everything Girl Scouts do should unlock their full potential and raise their confidence—a powerful legacy that still feels relevant to all Girl Scouts, past and present. A lot has changed since 1912 but our love for Girl Scouts has only grown stronger.
