STE. GENEVIEVE – Veterans, active military and their guests will be honored at Ste. Genevieve County R-II’s Veterans Programs and the annual Veterans Day Parade. Please see details on these events below.
Veterans Day Parade
- The Veterans Day Parade is organized by Ste. Genevieve County R-II School District and Valle Catholic Schools, in order to honor our veterans and thank them for their service.
- The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. from the American Legion parking lot. Parade staging will be at 1:15 p.m.
- All veterans are invited to participate. Some trailers and vehicle space will be provided at the American Legion, and veterans are welcome to bring their own vehicles. Veterans should please contact Kyle Schweiss at krschweiss@sgdragons.org if they would like to use a classic car in the parade.
- Parade Route: The parade route will begin at the American Legion Hall, (take Rozier Street) head down 4th Street toward downtown, turn right onto Market, turn left onto Main, turn left onto Merchant, turn right onto 4th and passing Valle Catholic, turn left onto Lecompte, turn left onto 5th and passing in front of Ste. Genevieve Middle School, and turn right onto Washington in front of Ste. Genevieve Elementary before heading onto 8th Street toward the SGHS Gym.
Veterans Day Luncheon
- A luncheon will be served at the American Legion Hall for veterans prior to the parade. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m., with doors open at 11:15 a.m. All veterans, active military members and their spouses are welcome.
- The luncheon will be catered by Eleven Eleven Catering, and the menu includes: fried chicken, mashed potatoes, liver dumplings, salad, green beans, and more.
SGMS/SGHS Veterans Day Assembly
- The annual SGMS/SGHS Veterans Day Tribute will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, and will include: performances by the band and choir groups; a keynote by guest speaker CW05 Kelly Bonds, U.S. Army (See his biography in separate article); and graphics and videos created by the SGHS Broadcast Team and Dragon’s Lair Productions featuring clips from students and Ste. Genevieve County R-II alumni service members stationed around the world. If a member of our alumni would like to be included in this montage, please contact Arie Taylor at ataylor@sgdragons.org and share the name of the service member, the rank, and where they are stationed.

SG R-II Elementary Assemblies
- Bloomsdale Elementary will host its Veterans Day Assembly at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022. There will be a short reception prior to the assembly in the cafeteria 9 – 9:30 a.m. for veterans. A form was sent home with students for families to sign up a veteran or send in photos to be displayed during the assembly.
