Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri receives $2.4 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – On Tuesday, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri (GSEM) announced a $2.4 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. This gift is part of an $84.5 million donation awarded to Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and 29 councils, making this unprecedented investment the largest donation from a single individual in GSUSA’s history.

Locally, the gift will help girls across eastern Missouri have access to and engage in all that Girl Scouting has to offer. “Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri is so grateful for the generosity of MacKenzie Scott,” said Bonnie Barczykowski, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri CEO. “Her gift will impact young girls whom she’ll never meet, yet whose lives she’ll forever change.”

Girl Scouts helps girls explore all that’s possible and provides the tools, resources, and mentors to build upon their interests and support them in their development journey. This investment will help provide equitable access to these amazing experiences for all girls, so they can be the leader they want to be – and the one the world needs them to be.

This gift is in support of Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s Her Future is Our Future Comprehensive Campaign. The campaign has surpassed its goal of $50 million to date. The campaign allows the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri to remain steadfast in its mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place, while further developing its innovative programming, improving facilities and infrastructure, and creating a pipeline of future leaders in our community.
