City of Ste. Genevieve named ‘Stars and Stripes City’

STE. GENEVIEVE – The City of Ste. Genevieve was recognized Friday as a “Stars and Stripes City” for “Engaging Informed Citizenship, Commitment and Service.”

Jim Martin (center), the past president and present national outreach chair for the Stars and Stripes National Museum/Library and Learning Center presented the proclamation to Alderman Mike Raney (right) and city administrator Happy Welch (left).

The Stars and Stripes Museum is located in Bloomfield, Mo. and was the first place to print the Stars and Stripes newspaper for military personnel in the Civil War.

The Center has the 3rd Annual Spirit of Democracy Banquet and Silent Auction Saturday, November 5th, at 5 p.m. at the Osage Center in Cape Girardeau. 

 

Helen Patton, granddaughter of General George S. Patton, Jr. is one of the featured guest speakers.
